The ATARI 1050 was the first 1.5-density floppy disk drive released by Atari to replace the Atari 810. The new drive could use floppy disks written on the Atari 810, as well as write data at an expanded density, accommodating 127 KB on a floppy disk (although the standard for floppy disk drives allowed for 180 KB to be written on one side).
