Access Unlimited ATAR40-A1

The Access Unlimited ATAR40-1 is a floppy disk drive released by Access Unlimited, Inc. as a more affordable and advanced alternative to the original Atari 810. Unlike basic models of the time, this version supported double density, allowing it to store up to 180 KB of data on a single side of a 5.25-inch floppy disk, making it a competitor to devices like the Indus GT or Rana 1000.

The ATAR40-1 was part of a line that also included the ATAR88-1. The "40" in the name typically referred to the number of tracks (40 tracks), which was the standard for most Atari floppy disk drives of the time.
